The America Division challenges young men and women ages 10–18 to rise above the ordinary — building character, discipline, and skills that last a lifetime.
The US Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a youth program available to ages 10–18 that promotes naval interest and instills discipline and moral character through valuable experiences and leadership — right here in Richmond, Virginia.
The Sea Cadets provide naval training and experiences that are hard to find anywhere else. We develop young people into leaders through three pillars — and everything we do is grounded in Honor, Respect, Commitment, and Service.
Unit #053 of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps — the official youth program of the US Navy and Coast Guard — based at the Richmond Naval Operations Support Center.
We provide hands-on naval training and real-world experiences — from aircraft carriers to fire fighting to leadership roles — that develop young people into confident, capable leaders.
Through monthly drills, summer and winter advanced trainings, community service, and a rank structure that mirrors the US Navy — giving cadets progressive responsibility as they grow.
Every aspect of our program is designed to push cadets outside their comfort zones while giving them the structure and support to succeed. Physical fitness, naval knowledge, and leadership — all in one program.
Each December, America Division cadets participate in Wreaths Across America — laying wreaths at the graves of fallen service members at Richmond National Cemetery. It is one of our most sacred traditions, and a powerful reminder that service extends far beyond drill day.
Our cadets also participate in Toys for Tots collections, color guard ceremonies across Richmond, and community events throughout the year.
